Our students participate in a broad spectrum of activities tailored to reflect their interests and develop their skills.Extraordinary Ministers of Holy CommunionSeniorsmayapplytodistributetheEucharistatschool liturgies.The application process to become an Extraordinary MinisterofHolyCommunionbeginswithajunioryear offormation. Acceptanceiscontingentonaletterfrom the students pastor and the discernment of the Campus Ministry team. They may, if their pastor allows, function in thisroleintheirparishaswell.ExtraordinaryMinisters undergoformationandcommittoregularparticipation in events sponsored by Pillars, such as the weekly Rosary, Communion service and First Friday Adoration. Student MinistryTheStudentMinistryteamallowsseniorstudentsto become more directly involved in the spiritual ministry of the Church at SSA.Seniors apply to become Student Ministers in a process that begins in their junior year with formational events and activities.Student Ministers assist in planning andimplementingschoolliturgiesandunderclassmen retreats.They provide peer support for those experiencing difficulties socially and spiritually, and enhance their own and others spiritual growth through prayer, scripture, and social justice tasks. The team participates in a 3 day workshop during the summer prior to their senior year.ProgramsBig Sis/Little SisThe Big Sis/Lil Sis program is designed to welcome new eighth graders to SSA, helping them adjust to life as a Dove.Eighth graders are paired with a Senior Big Sis the summer before entering SSA, providing a campus contact for any questions they may have before school begins and throughout the school year. Seniors and eighth graders have joint activities during the year to foster the Big Sis/Lil Sis bond.Color GuardPromotes patriotism on the SSA campus.The exclusive senior membershiplearnstheformalaspectsof presentingthe colors and being a part of an honor guard.The Color Guard sponsors the annual Veterans Assembly and collects items to send to active military.'
